ECY Haulmark Ltd have recently completed a deal with Derby-based specialist contractor, Cawarden to supply and install the Steelwrist SQ80 fully automatic quick coupler system to their machines and attachments. The system permits hydraulic work tools such as shears, grabs, breakers and buckets to be changed over safely in seconds on a busy demolition site.
The deal included two Steelwrist SQ80 machine couplers to suit their new Komatsu PC490 Hi reach and Komatsu PC490 short arm machine, plus three SQ80 attachments brackets for existing attachments.
Cawarden’s investment from ECY Haulmark also included a new VTN CI3200R 3.2 tonne rotating scrap shear which has also equipped with a Steelwrist SQ80 which is currently being utilised on their new Komatsu PC360 on a current contract in Staffordshire.
The robust VTN CI3200R shear suits excavators in the 27-39 tonne range and offers an impressive throat force of 620 tonnes, a tip force of 146 tonnes and operates at the highest levels in terms of performance. This shear is capable of processing I beam, H beam, round and square bar and plate metals with ease and is the ideal addition for use on demolition sites with varying materials and structures.
Last week, the new equipment was being put through its paces for the first time on-site in Burton-on-Trent in the market town of Staffordshire. The project has required Cawarden to demolish and clear the site of a former gym.
Samuel Crooks, Demolition Manager at Cawarden commented “The new equipment has made light work of the project. The gym unit is a steel frame construction and with the aid of the new VTN CI scrap shear we have been able to cut and process the steel beams safely, quickly and with ease. It’s been able to rapidly cut the steel beams into 5m lengths which makes segregation and recycling a lot easier. It also takes just seconds for the machine operator to swap the attachments as needed with the new Steelwrist automatic quick coupler system. It’s a massive time saver versus alternative methods and we’re delighted with the new additions from ECY Haulmark to our industry-leading fleet of plant and equipment.”
